Beauty Routine

1. I never ever ever go to bed with my makeup on, even if I have been out partying and had one too many. If you do, you will wake up the next morning, not only with a possible hangover, but with gunged, screwed up, dirty eyes that need loads of tlc. (tender loving care) So you must develop your own bedtime routine.

2. I try to get a good nights sleep as this, in my opinion, is the best beauty treatment you can have. And it's free. As we go through life this is not always possible with all the stresses and tensions that modern day living has brought to us. But as I said, I try.

3. In the morning I have a cup of tea, if I feel particularly virtuous I'll have a cup of green tea, ugh, and then get up to face the day.

4. Before I have a shower I tie my hair up and clean my teeth while waiting for the water to get hot.

5. After my shower I cleanse my face with one of those new style wipes and they are brilliant.

6. I spritz my face with a water spray then moisturise. I would not miss this for the world because moisturiser holds the water in your skin and helps keep your skin hydrated.

7. Next. Wow but Next. I always, without fail, use a TOTAL sunblock. My daughter says I look too pale but, if you don't want a pale face, the answer is to use either a brown cheek shadow, blusher or an artificial sun colorant.

8. Let the cream dry thoroughly before applying your makeup. This is a pain but necessary or your skin will be too greasy.

Then I have my two minute plan.

9. Take a large soft brush, like a shaving brush, and the dust your face with mineral powder make up. This is the best make up I have ever used for a day time make up. You can add extra if you want a more made up look for evening or if you want to conceal blemishes.

10. Then with a flat eye shadow brush and using a basic beige powder shadow I brush all over my lids, fading it out the closer to the brows I get. I normally accentuate the creases of my eyelids for a slightly more dramatic look with a darker shade.

11. Then a quick lick of mascara (brown) a touch of lip gloss and I'm off. I promise you that this quick beauty routine is all you need to have a beautiful look that will keep in all day and not look overmade up or take forever to apply.

Why waste your valuable time doing all that heavy smuck?

P.S. I only ever buy moisturiser and face creams from the local supermarket, because in my opinion, unless you have a problem skin that may need specialist treatment, the designer products are over priced, often celebrity endorsed and offer little value for money.

Athlete's Foot

Do you have chronic itching or peeling on your feet, often between your toes? A diagnosis of athlete's foot is made by taking a scraping of skin and looking for fungus under a microscope. If nothing is seen, scrapings of skin are placed in a culture bottle to see if fungus grows. Drugs such as Lamisil or Nizoral usually will clear fungal infections of the skin unless there is fungus in the nails. This can easily be the reason for recurring athlete's foot infections because the nails will not respond to topical medicines or the short course of oral medicine used to treat skin infections.

If you get recurring fungal skin infections and your toenails are thick, discolored yellow or white, and have debris underneath them, you will need to treat the toenail infection with Lamisil or Sporanox for 3 months to have any chance of curing the fungus problem. Also be aware that fungus loves dark, wet environments. If your feet are always sweaty, have your doctor prescribe Drysol to stop the sweating, and use anti-fungal powder in all of your shoes so that you do not reinfect yourself. Avoid going barefoot in public places where you may get reinfected.

If neither the microscopic or culture reveal fungus, then your doctor must rule out eczema or psoriasis which cause thickening of skin. Some bacterial infections also can cause chronic peeling of the skin. These can be diagnosed with a black light or bacterial culture.

High Cholesterol Prescription Medications Can Kill You

The World Health Organization declares that heart disease is the number one killer worldwide. High cholesterol is a major contributor of heart disease. In America alone there are nearly 105 million people with high cholesterol.

While there are numerous options for people to lower cholesterol naturally, thousands and thousands of people are taking prescription medication to lower cholesterol ? risking some very dangerous side effects.

These side effects can include:

?An increase in cancer risk

?Elevated liver enzymes (causing liver damage)

?Yellow skin / yellow eyes

?Rhabdomyolysis (degenerative muscle tissue condition)

?Impaired kidney function

?Muscle weakness and pain

?Dizziness

?Gas

?Headache

?Heartburn or indigestion

?Nausea or vomiting

Crestor, a prescription medication to lower cholesterol, has been linked to the death of a patient who developed a suspected case of severe muscle wasting. Company spokesman Steve Brown said ?the death may have been due to a condition known as Rhabdomyolysis and the incident had been reported to regulators worldwide.? Brown declined to say where the death occurred or what dose of Crestor the patient had been taking

For people that are looking for supplements to help lower cholesterol levels, there are many natural supplements available that can lower cholesterol and some of these can even be more effective than the prescription medications ? with the added benefit of zero side effects.

A new product and website just released can show you many natural ways to lower your cholesterol, including over 35 natural supplements that will help to melt away high cholesterol levels. You can also find plenty of information on how to naturally lower cholesterol levels without any supplements whatsoever.

This is what one person had to say ??and on behalf of my wife I?d like to say thank you. Her cholesterol is down, her weight is down and her blood pressure is down (after a 7 year struggle) and the best part was that it was pretty easy to do? Peter Bezant ? USA

The above statistic about the death of a patient should serve as a warning. There really is no reason for anyone to be taking prescription medication to lower cholesterol. The side effects are just too dangerous. And when you consider the numerous natural options, including foods and supplements, that are readily available to lower cholesterol, prescription medication should not be an option.

How to Buy Exercise Equipment

Selecting a new piece of exercise equipment can be daunting because there are so many possibilities. Before you buy, investigate the resources that are readily available to you. If your office building or neighborhood has an exercise room or program, check it out and try the equipment. Ask your friends what they do. Visit a YMCA, commercial gym, community college or any other nearby facility that offers classes or memberships. Make notes on everything that is available and what appeals to you. DON?T give in to high pressure sales people to buy equipment or memberships until you know exactly what you want.

There are lots of advantages to having exercise equipment in your own home. You can exercise whenever it's convenient, in any weather. You never have to wait in line. You have privacy -- a real plus if you're embarrassed about your weight or lack of fitness. You can watch television or listen to music while you exercise.

But good exercise equipment can be expensive. Make sure you know just what you want before you buy. If you have access to a health club or gym, try out the pieces that interest you. It's best to work through the first several weeks of a new exercise program on someone else's machine just to make sure you're comfortable, can master the movements and -- hopefully -- enjoy the activity. That way you're less likely to end up with an expensive clothes hanger.

Once you've settled on the type of machine you want, find a store that carries several different models displayed so you can try them out. Remember that health clubs buy extremely heavy-duty equipment; many machines built for home use are lightweight and poorly constructed. If you buy a machine that doesn't move smoothly, rattles and shakes, or fails to give you the range of resistance you need, you won't enjoy your workout. You don't necessarily need to buy the most expensive machine -- you can do without all the electronic gadgetry. But do buy the sturdiest, smoothest-operating model you can afford.

Increase Your Vertical Jump Secrets Revealed

If your goal is to become a top-notched athlete…raise your vertical leap to 30“+…or you just wanna impress your friends and dominate “above the rim” on the basketball court.

Here’s 4 tips to help you reach your goal…

Hip flexor stretches-- first… get in a lunge position with your left knee on the ground and put your right foot as far forward as you can…then, drive your hips forward as far as possible, all the while keeping chest elevated. At this point attempt to position your left thigh at a 45 degree angle from the floor…are you there yet?--

Okay, now elevate your left hand, reaching for your head… lightly twist it to the right as you look over your shoulder…you should feel your abs and left hip flexor stretching…this technique should be done in a series of 2-- 30 seconds reps.

Doing depth jumps-- you can start out with a 6” box and work towards a 24” as you progress--but, begin by stepping off a box (height determined by your level of training) and quickly… as you touch the floor…forcefully leap into the air--repeat-- using 15 seconds as your guideline. Your goal should be to avoid being grounded for the shortest time possible.

Pogo jump exercises--by leaping off the ground utilizing your ankles…while airborne-- curling your toes upward. While conducting this maneuver, don’t allow your heels to touch the ground. Your skill at keeping your knees in a fix position while jumping and landing…as well as limiting your contact with the ground is very important.

Performing this technique in 20 second sets of 3...In as many reps as you can do… will actually greatly improve your vertical jump and prevent future ankle injuries.

Vertical jumps-- one of the best ways to increase your vertical jump…is to practice your vertical jump! Believe it or not--some athletes...using learned proper techniques... showed as much as a 3” improvement in their vertical jump. You can find many resources on this topic available on the internet or in your local public library-- that'll illustrate proper form and technique.

The ADHD Article

One of the best things about the Internet and about serious, scholarly, and devoted professional help sites is being able to find the accurate, timely, and truly informative articles related to your search. The ADHD article is among such benefits. While we can find a large amount of materials in the bookstore on ADHD (Attention Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder), such as Kate Kelly and Peggy Ramundo?s lifesaving book, or those equally useful works by Thom Hartmann, Shari Holden, and others, the ADHD article is quicker, more easily accessible online, and is just as valuable as written by an ADHD specialist, expert, and/or professional.

You can start with the ADHD site or ADHD ezine (online magazine), for example to find almost any ADHD article as it is relevant:

? BTE, or borntoexplore.org, offers information about ADHD and a number of helpful, informative ADHD articles for scholarship and personal use.

? ADDitude magazine is online and by regular print subscription, and has so many practical and realistic ADHD articles for the professional, the student, the parent, and the adult.

You will also want to check out the ADHD article databases:

? The absolute premier site for ADHD articles is ADD Consults (addconsults.com). It will take you a minute to figure out the organizational system, but once you decide on a subject area, or sub-topic, you will get ADHD articles on everything from ADD strategies to co-morbidity information to ADHD articles about children and adults with ADD. The articles are upscale and professional, clinical, and/or personal, and are a must read! The site is engineered by Terry Matlin, MSW, ASCW, and features the astoundingly superbly brilliant support of ADHD article writers who are ADD specialists: Edward Hallowell, John J. Ratey, Sari Solden, Thom Hartmann, Michelle Novotny, and many others!

And once you find the primary source that is most user-friendly and most helpful to you, sign up for a free newsletter, one which offers an ADHD article or two every week or month (whenever the newsletter is delivered to your inbox):

? Terry Matlin, ACSW, also offers a newsletter that features an ADHD article, book reviews, and blurbs on many ADHD aids and products for the person with ADHD.

? Breath and Shadow, a monthly (or thereabouts) newsletter put out by ROSC as the Journal of Literature and Disability Culture, is for writers and artists with any or all disabilities, and issues a monthly newsletter with a predetermined theme, but occasionally you might get an ADHD article.

As you can see, you can find the most scholarly ADHD articles, or the most personal and still accurate and relevant ADHD article written by a non-credentialed individual who has or knows someone who has to put up with the frustrations and challenges and special and unique gifts of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, also known as ADD.

Dean Novosat writes for WellHabit.com. Here you?ll find a collection of health and fitness research and articles.

Beginners Guide to Personal Trainers

We've all seen them in the gym taking care of their clients. Giving expert advice and due encouragement. But what can you expect from a personal trainer and how do you find a good one? Here we provide the answers to those questions and more.

Why have a personal trainer?

After all some are not cheap and it's you doing the exercise not them. However are you doing the right exercise, at the right frequency and with the right technique?

A personal trainer can save hours of hard work done incorrectly. A personal trainer can analyse your lifestyle and give you the perfect routine, encouragement and guidance. Then you can get the most from your workout efforts.

Personal trainer certification and qualification

Within the first conversation with a prospective personal trainer you should ask for their credentials. There are many governing bodies a personal trainer can be a member of. All of the following ensure the candidate can safely and knowledgeably instruct their clients by having them take various tests and courses:

USA

Aerobic and fitness association of America - AFAA
American college of sports medicine - ACSM
American council of exercise - ACE
American fitness professional & associates - AFPA
International sports sciences association - ISSA
National federation of personal trainers - NFPT

United Kingdom

Lifetime dynamic training - LDT
National register of personal trainers - NRPT
Register of exercise professionals - REP
YMCA fitness industry training - YMCAFIT

Look for these plus any further qualifications gained at college or university. Any personal trainer should be glad to show you these.

How to find a good personal trainer

Before even choosing a personal trainer while you're in the gym observe them at work. See who give their clients good encouragement and are attentive. Look also for someone you'll get on with personally.

Also talk to some clients and get there recommendations. Some personal trainers specialize in long distance running or body building, ask around and see if you're goals match with any specialists. All in all get a feel of their reputation and combine this with your observations to find the best one for you.

What a personal trainer will do

Before any activity takes place the personal should discuss your general health and fitness goals. They will discuss your body type and find out how much time you're willing to spend. He/she will also need to know of any relevant health concerns you may have had in the past.

Your personal trainer should then draw up a fitness program to suit you. This will include fitness aims and a schedule to undertake during the week until the next personal training session. There should also be a comment on good nutrition toward a healthier lifestyle, all in keeping with your goals.

The personal trainer will then walk through a fitness routine with you. This will start with stretching and a gentle warm up followed by some cardio work (treadmill, bike, etc). He/she may then go through some resistance training. All of this is to check you're using the machines correctly and to go through your fitness routine so you can workout yourself until your next session with the personal trainer.

Personal trainers overall

Personal trainers are not always needed, you could do some training research yourself and focus yourself on your goals. But it is much safer and easier with the guidance and motivation from a personal trainer. You will also reach your goals far quicker and without injury with the professional help.

Overall be sure to check out all the personal trainers available, ask for their qualifications and, as long as you put the effort in, then your fitness and lifestyle goals should start to become a reality.

Thinking Outside The Box Concerning Congestive Heart Failure

?Think outside the box!? These words show up in commercials, boardrooms, operating rooms and casual conversations. They have become the calling card of the young creative hotshot trying to secure an impressive position in a choice company. They mark the inventive thinker and condemn the one doing everything in the same old fashion. For the most part we live in a world where new is better and change in and of itself is considered a good thing.

But there are some boxes in which our thinking seems to be locked. I have in mind one particular box which conforms us to the idea that health is a matter of fixing problems after they present themselves. There is no doubt that medical science has advanced at a remarkable rate. We are daily finding cures for diseases that have plagued us for all history. But medical science is not the savior of careless living. It is time to think outside the box of waiting until there is an evident problem before we do anything about it. Or perhaps it is more accurate to say that we should return to the box that says, ?An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.?

One case in point, among many others, is demonstrated by the rise in heart disease in developed and developing countries. In particular to this article is the increase in incidence of congestive heart failure. Congestive heart failure is not so much a disease as it is the end result of heart degradation. Sometimes the cause is not known. But most often it is caused by one or more long-term ailments that stress the heart to the point that it simply can not function properly.

Here is an example. Perhaps a patient has lived with elevated blood pressure for many years. Long-term hypertension is one of the leading causes of CHF. The patient might make some efforts to reduce his blood pressure but is not overly concerned about it. After all, we live in a high speed world. Hypertension is common among the hard working. It becomes an acceptable part of every day living in the modern world.

But high blood pressure is one common condition that works for years to wear on the cardiovascular system resulting in a number of serious ailments, not the least of which is congestive heart failure. The fact that something does not kill us in a week does not logically imply that it will not kill us. Hypertension causes the heart to work harder ultimately weakening it over time. The weakening of the heart coupled with a vascular system not conducive to efficiently transporting blood due to hypertension and atherosclerosis (clogging of the arteries) can only lead to trouble. The heart gets to the point that it simply can not keep up with the work load. The patient then turns to medical science for a cure; or perhaps a miracle. Twenty years of neglect, and even abuse, is expected to fade away with the swallowing of a few pills.

The blood pressure example is just that, an example. Atherosclerosis is another. Atherosclerosis comes from the Greek words athero (meaning gruel or paste) and sclerosis (meaning hardness). The combination of the two meanings provides a rather gruesome picture of a hard paste (plaque) being deposited in our blood vessels. Not a pretty sight from any angle. When plaque buildup sufficiently restricts blood flow to the major organs serious repercussions can occur not the least of which is heart attach, stroke or long-term congestive heart failure.

It is believed by many scientists that atherosclerosis begins when damage occurs to the innermost layer of the artery. Such damage can be caused by high levels of cholesterol and triglycerides, high blood pressure, smoking, diabetes and obesity. It stands to reason, then, that controlling these conditions can go a long way toward reducing the effects of atherosclerosis and, by logical inference, congestive heart failure.

There are many more possible examples that could be given. The above represent only a couple common possibilities. But notice even in these two examples the amount of overlap. High blood pressure affects atherosclerosis buildup. Smoking has an effect on both conditions. It is the same with other conditions as well. The same, then, is also true with treatments. Taking steps to control one area of heart health usually provides beneficial results in other areas. And these benefits in return aid in prevention and treatment of CHF.

So what magical steps can we take to reduce the likelihood of developing CHF? No magic. In a sense what we need to do is to stop thinking inside the box of waiting until there is a health problem before we do anything about it. But in so doing, we need to return to an even older box; the box of prevention.

Health is, in a large part, a matter of lifestyle. Why is heart disease, and particularly congestive heart failure, on the rise in developing countries? One word: Lifestyle. While medical science is working to reduce the impact of heart disease we are working to increase its impact.

The first major factor to concern us is the lack of exercise. Most of us have jobs that exercise our brains but not our bodies. This is especially the case for those of us who are in the busy time of our lives while building careers and raising children. It is difficult to add an exercise regimen on top of all the other responsibilities that scream for our time. However, being physically fit influences much more than the strength of our muscles. The whole body requires conditioning to function properly and heart health is no exception.

Diet is perhaps the main culprit in the rise of heart disease. Face it, with all the advertisements on the radio and television promoting low fat diets and healthy eating we still don?t listen. We are in a hurry so we eat what is convenient and tasty. High cholesterol, high fat diets simply do not promote heart health. They promote hypertension and atherosclerosis, both major factors in the development of CHF. Not only do we take in way too much of the bad stuff we don?t get nearly enough of the good stuff. Most of the vegetables in the average American diet come from French fries. And most of the fruits are found in the form of bottled drinks that boast 10% real fruit juice. If we treated our cars this way they wouldn?t last long enough to pay off the loan.

Even for those that make an effort to eat well there is an additional obstacle. Farming techniques often do not produce the nutritious foods that were once available. Hormonally adjusted livestock and chemically fertilized crops are not as healthy as their organically raised counterparts. Even nutritious crops begin losing their nutritious value as soon as they are picked. Fruits and vegetables that are stored and shipped over an extended period of time provide only a fraction of their original benefit.

So what are we to do? In addition to reducing the amount of fat and cholesterol there should be a concerted effort to add ample fruits and vegetables to the diet. Of course the organically grown varieties are superior. But they are not an option for everyone. However, in most places it is possible to buy produce that is locally grown. This usually means that less time passes between harvest and consumption reducing vitamin loss. Growing your own produce is a great alternative if you have enough space.

Fish, especially cold water fish, has long been known to aid in heart health. Cultures which include fish as a significant part of the diet have demonstrably lower incidence of heart disease than cultures that eat little fish. The Omega-3 fatty acids contained in fish oils have been shown in numerous studies to reduce heart disease of many types.

Even in the best diets there are holes. Consider a good dietary supplement regimen. Many studies have verified the usefulness of supplementing for the reduction and prevention of a number of diseases including heart diseases like CHF. The particulars of these studies are beyond the scope of this essay. But one thing should be emphasized. Choose good vitamin supplements. Good supplements are manufactured much the same way as good produce is grown. Chemical equivalents are not really equivalents. The test tube may not know the difference but the body does.

The efforts taken to reduce the likelihood of heart disease are very much worth it. We must get out of the think tank that allows us to neglect heart health while trusting medical science to bail us out when trouble strikes.

Chelation Cures Heart And Other Diseases

Chelation is the process of putting natural substances into the body that chemically bond with toxic materials that are in your body such as minerals, metals and chemicals.

Several books have been written on chelation. It is an inexpensive natural treatment that can cure and prevent disease. (For more information on natural cures for all sorts of disease go to www.drclarkuniversity.org) And, of course, the drug companies can?t make money on chelation products so they will continue to try and discredit this natural treatment along with all others that pose a threat to their profit margin.

The opening up of the arteries is the most common benefit you will see from removing the toxins with chelation. If you are concerned about blockages in your arteries this is an answer worth investigating. Another possible benefit is men will not need Viagra in many cases since blood flow throughout the body is dramatically increased, because all the arteries are open, you get more oxygen to the blood, which means your alkalinity pH level goes up, which means you are less prone to cancer or other degenerative diseases. You have more energy. People's skin, hair and nails look better and healthier. Wrinkles can go away. You look younger. You become more flexible. All of your organs start becoming more vibrant and alive - younger and healthier.

There are two types of chelation, oral chelation and intravenous chelation. Oral chelation can be done at home. For faster results, find a healthcare practitioner in your area that does intravenous chelation.

If you are suffering from Cancer, HIV/AIDS, MS, almost any disease, there are natural cures out there, there is a way to remove this suffering from your life, and to do it quickly and inexpensively.

Researching and Treating Diabetes

Diabetes is a problem that affects so many people, both in the U.S. and worldwide, surprisingly, however, very little is known about the disease.

There are a number of organizations that are researching exactly what causes diabetes, as well new and better methods for controlling it, monitoring blood sugar levels, getting insulin into the blood, newer medicines to correct the problems and even how to stop it before it starts.

There are numerous groups and organizations involved in research such as the FDA, the Diabetes Action Research and Education Foundation, or DAREF, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the Diabetes Research Institute and the Diabetes Research and Wellness Foundation and many, many others, in the United States, Great Britain, Australia and many other countries.

Some of the research being done includes;

? A vaccination against the autoimmune response that causes type 1 diabetes. Testing is currently being carried out on animals.

? Genetic engineering to make liver cells that produce insulin. Although insulin is produced there is no internal control mechanism as there is with the pancreas, so the insulin levels from such cells remains constant regardless of the body's requirement for this hormone.

? Stem cells are the very basic building blocks of the human body and have the ability to develop into any kind of cell. It is possible that researchers will find a way to use stem cells to make insulin producing cells to replace those that have been damaged by the autoimmune problem that causes type 1 diabetes.

? Immunoassay for type 1 diabetes.

? The impact of exercise training for those with diabetes.

? A recent report that transplanted pig cells have been successful in reversing diabetes in test monkeys.

? Arterial issues.

? Enhancing the cell survival of important agents in diabetes.

? A type 1 diabetes medication that helps the beta cells in the pancreas to live longer, the loss of the beta cells is one thoughts of causes of type 1 diabetes, is currently underway by the Diabetes Action Research and Education Foundation (DAREF) that may prove to help patients create insulin on their own, thus reducing the dependence on outside sources of insulin

Other research currently underway is the use of cinnamon to lower blood sugar levels. Dr. Richard Anderson at the United States Department of Agriculture's Human Nutrition Resource Center has been able to effectively isolate a compound in cinnamon that causes lowered blood sugar.

The reason that cinnamon is so helpful to someone with diabetes is the way that it inhibits enzymes in the body that may be responsible to insulin resistance. This is especially noteworthy to those who are afflicted with Type II diabetes and have insulin resistance problems. Cinnamon also was shown to increase the body's sensitivity to insulin causing insulin to be used more efficiently.

If you or someone you know is afflicted with this chronic illness, funding a research team may allow you to benefit immediately and enable you to play a role in research and the treatment of the millions of other diabetes sufferers in the world.

A couple of the more recent treatments currently in trials are -

A medicine that is based on the saliva of a venomous lizard ? the Gila Monster. The drug containing this new treatment is delivered by injection in much the same way as insulin, however the early trials have seen many participants withdraw because of an increase in side effects when compared to those caused by insulin. All research so far undertaken has been sponsored by the pharmaceutical company that produces this drug.

Another new treatment going through trials is the delivery of insulin through inhalation. The insulin is prepared in a dry micro fine powder form which is inhaled directly into the lungs from where it is absorbed into the blood stream.

This would have obvious advantages when treating children in particular, as the use of needles to deliver the essential insulin shots can make the condition doubly distressing for the patient and for the parents who often have to administer the injections. There are concerns about the long term problems that may be caused by this method of delivery and it is thought not to be suitable for smokers or asthma sufferers.

All new treatments offer hope for the future but the effectiveness of any of them will not be fully appreciated until they have been tested over time.

Hepatitis 101 What You Need to Know About

Not many of us know about something that is common between Evil Kenivel and Naomi judd along with thousands of other lesser, known mortals. Well the answer is Hepatitis. Both stars have or had the virus, in particular the hepatitis c. there are basically three types that infect people every year. However in order to reduce the risk, it?s important to understand the causes and effects of this virus n body.

It?s a very easily spread virus which causes inflammation of the liver. The infection might be acute, with the body recovering in less then six months. Or it might be chronic, which means the virus lasts in the body for about six months or even more.

Different types of Hepatitis are caused by different types of viruses. All of these respond to medication and treatment differently. Although the infection is usually preventable and most who acquire usually recover, yet it is a major health concern. Mostly it?s considered dangerous because of the damage it may cause to a persons liver tissue and the ease with which it spreads from one to another.

It may seriously affect the immunity of the body and damage the liver even causing liver failure, cancer and even death.

Most important is to realize that one form of hepatitis is different from another. While hepatitis A spreads by contaminated food or water, but on the other hand C is spread only through body fluids or during birth.

Just like the causes, their treatment is equally different.

Although, all the forms of Hepatitis have different symptoms, differentiating one from the other, yet for the most part they have similar symptoms. If you experience any of these symptoms, it is advisable to seek immediate medical attention. To begin with get it tested, so that treatment may begin if required.

Although not all types have the same symptoms yet they do share some common symptoms like dark urine, yellow skin or eye whites, also referred to as jaundice, low grade fever, loss of appetite and feeling sick. Loss of nutrition might also be caused by the virus.

Other more unique symptoms are stomachaches for those with B and C only. Yellow or pale colored stool affects those with hepatitis a and c, aching joints is more common for the patients with hepatitis B.

Because of the similarity in symptoms, self-diagnosis of the type is not easy and hence medical tests are required. However knowing the symptoms helps, as Hepatitis a has no real treatment and has to be waited out and thus one must know the usual symptoms, deviation from which is a sign of a different infection.

Prognosis in case of Hepatitis is vitally important. Most people with infection do recover in six months or so, yet in some cases it may take a longer time.

Amongst the various things that a person with infection and wishing speedy recovery should do, is to avoid alcohol. Alcohol and drugs add excessive burden to the already weak liver, trying to heal itself from the virus.

Regular visits to the doctor, monitoring the functioning of liver are equally important. Patients have a vital role in recovery and hence an open relationship with the doctor is extremely important and any new symptoms should be immediately expressed.

Pew! Cologne Overload!

Ok?we all know people who are guilty of this crime. People whose cologne/perfume enter a room before they do. Both men and women are equally to blame. Whether it?s a co-worker, good friend or --gasp!-- you, we have all played the innocent victims to these saboteurs by the assault on our olfactory senses. The fact is that many of these perpetrators are unaware of their crime. Many things can interfere with our perception of how much is enough, when applying fragrance. For instance, wearing the same fragrance all the time can make our noses become accustomed to it. Thereby we have to apply more of it to be able to smell it anymore. While everyone around us is then reeling from the scent overload.

Believe it or not, there is a science to the art of fragrance application. That?s why I have included some general guidelines to remember when picking out and applying a scent:

1.When you are at the perfume counter testing out new scents to take home, remember to apply to your wrist first. Then walk away and give it time to settle in with your body chemistry. After about 7-8 minutes, smell it on your wrist. Does it still smell as good to you as it did from the bottle? Or has your body chemistry noticeably altered it for the worse? If the former rings true, it?s a good match for you. Otherwise, skip it and try another.

2.Before testing another scent, remember to clean your sense of smell by sniffing coffee beans. The aroma of coffee beans will act as a cleanser to your nose as a sherbet cleanses your palate before a meal. Most perfume counters will have these on hand as well.

3.When you have selected the scent you will take home, store in a cool and dry place. This will extend the shelf life of the cologne/perfume in that it will not alter the scent or reduce the potency.

4.When applying scents, remember that there are different strengths to each formula. For instance, eau de toilette contains the highest amount of water, therefore making it the lightest in potency. Perfumes contain the highest concentration of oil, making it the strongest of all forms of scents. The more oil a scent has, the longer it will last on your body. Keeping that in mind, apply scents to your key pulse points before dressing. These include your neck, back of the knees, behind the ears and your stomach. These are all parts of the body that will make the scent last longer, while not being overly obnoxious either.

5.A lot of your favorite scents are also available in body washes, gels, shampoos and lotions; making it easier for you to wear even more of them. The idea here is to layer them while finishing with the perfume as the final product.

6.The whole idea is to be subtle when you walk out the door to your destination. A person should have to get close to you before he/she can smell your perfume. When you are conscious of wearing an appropriate amount of perfume, you alleviate offending others with scents they may be allergic to or just plain dislike.

With these tips in mind, you will no longer have people wanting to run for the hills holding their noses. Quite the contrary actually- you will probably find others leaning in closer to find out just what that wonderful scent is you are wearing!

Compare Treadmills Carefully To Find Quality

The aerobic benefits of walking and running are well documented, and perhaps you have decided to add this form of exercise to your daily workout schedule too. If so, you could easily just put on a good pair of shoes and go running in your neighborhood to get health benefits, but for many people that becomes a challenge, especially for those that live in areas where the weather can easily interrupt a regular workout routine. Or perhaps you don't feel comfortable walking or running on your own outdoors. If so, a home treadmill can be a good alternative, but you need to compare treadmills very carefully and then buy the one that fits you best.

If you have seen or used a treadmill at a gym, you know how stable and reliable they can be. But the cost of commercial treadmills is quite high, and there is no need to go quite that far in purchasing a workout machine for your home. However, you don't want to buy a cheap, inferior machine that will only break down under constant wear in the near future either, and wind up being scrapped without you getting your money's worth.

You can find plenty of quality home treadmills in between those two extremes that would make a fine purchase. But you need to do your homework and compare treadmills honestly to get the best treadmill buy.

First, understand that there are plenty of low cost treadmills on the market in department stores for just a few hundred dollars that may appear to be what you need at first glance, but they are not usually built well enough to stand up to the use you intend to give them in the long haul. Generally speaking, $1,000 seems to be the floor for getting a good, solid quality treadmill that you can count on. And if you plan on sharing it with another person or also maybe even running on it, you should probably consider spending in the area of $2,000 or more.

Also consider your size and weight when comparing treadmills. If you are over 200 pounds, you will need a very sturdy treadmill, especially if you run on it. Unfortunately, many treadmill manufacturers overstate the weight capability on their products so if you are over 200 pounds, look for a treadmill that supports 300 pounds or so instead if you want it to last.

Your height can be another important factor to take into consideration when it comes to the length of the treadmill deck. For tall people, over six feet, be sure to have a deck that is at least 50 inches long if you want to be able to walk in full stride and perhaps even a few inches longer if you want to run on your treadmill.

These are just a few suggestions to help you compare treadmills as you shop. You really can't know much about any home treadmill until you actually use it though. So make a physical inspection a part of your shopping process, and then compare treadmill results as you go to find the home treadmill that will suit you best.

Hawthorn For a Healthy Heart

One of the safest of all the herbal heart remedies, Hawthorn is said to be one of the best herbs for the cardiovascular system. Because of the research that has been conducted in Europe on Hawthorn, it has become fully recognized as a heart remedy; These studies concluded that Hawthorn helped to strengthen the contractions of the heart, it helped to normalize an irregular heart beat, and increased coronary circulation. Although, it's affect on lowering blood pressure are mild, when combined with other hypotensive herbs such as ginkgo, and dandelion leaf, Hawthorn is on the most popular herbs for reducing blood pressure.

Research suggests that by dilating the coronary arteries which increases oxygen and blood flow, Hawthorn helps to reduce angina and relieves cardiac hypoxemia, which is a reduced amount of oxygen to the heart. It is also highly recommended in the early stages of Congestive Heart Failure (CHF). Because it contains very potent flavonoids that protect the heart from oxidization, Hawthorn has shown much success in treating those recovering from heart attacks. Known as a tonic herb for the heart, Hawthorn nourishes the cells of the heart and is beneficial in any degenerative condition relating to the heart. These potent flavonoids also help to reduce inflammation and therefore, help to lower cholesterol levels. Although, it's effects are not rapid, Hawthorn has proved to be safe when used for an extended period of time. Often times it is recommended for the prevention of heart disease.

In conclusion, with all of its benefits, there are no known side effects from this herb. Hawthorn has proved to be a safe an effective alternative to many cardiovascular medications which pose additional risks because of their side effects. With additional research, Hawthorn may prove to have other benefits that have yet to reveal themselves.

Yoga in Practice: Helping Negative People (Part 2)

Selfishness, hoarding, and gluttony are hard to sleep with. Greed drives us insane, and over consumption causes grief. Helping others does not require money. Selfless service will help those in need just fine. Sometimes an encouraging word, a thank you, or a compliment, is worth more than money. This is because you showed recognition and gave a feeling that becomes self worth.

How many times do people hold back on giving thanks, praise, and mutual respect to others? No wonder the divorce rates are so high in some cultures. It is because no one wants to give, forgive, or try to understand anyone including their wife, husband, or family members.

No one wants to accept the blame for anything. Everything is the fault of some ?wrong doer.? We are living in the new age of blame. How often do you hear about teachers and parents blamed for trying to do their job?

When you see someone change his or her attitude around for the best, it does restore your faith in humanity. If we cannot forgive, we become negative and hostile, too. Below is a formula for helping negative people, and you may learn a little more about Karma Yoga and Bhakti Yoga, (the path of devotion), in the process.

Smiling is contagious and puts the unhappy person ?off guard.? Remember that negativity is also contagious, but smiling is an ?equalizer.? It is very hard to get mad at a happy person. Think pleasant thoughts and do not let yourself come under the spell of gloom. It is easier for most of us to smile than to frown all the time.

Listen emphatically, but do not take problems that are not yours to heart. I know a person whose favorite saying is, ?It?s not my problem.? Always remember that you do not have to take on the problems of the world, on your shoulders, to be a good listener.

If you feel this person is dragging you down, give yourself a break. Just because you want to help - that doesn?t mean you have to write a suicide pack with him or her. You have to know your own tolerance level for being around pessimism. Too much pessimism and negativity can have an adverse effect on anyone.

Look at ?wartime behavior? as a prime example. People are scarred for life by atrocities, brutality, poverty, starvation, battle fatigue, constant fear, and imprisonment. This is a haven for negativity to flourish in. This is much like the mind-set of a pessimist.

The Miracle of Botox Effect on Wrinkles (Part 2)

Which wrinkles and lines bother you the most? Are these lines and wrinkles the type that are best eliminated using Botox?

If you choose to eliminate only the wrinkles that can be treated with Botox, will any of the remaining ones still leave you unsatisfied with your appearance? For example, if you want both your frown lines and marionette lines removed, you will likely need a different cosmetic procedure to have the marionette lines eliminated.

It should point out that Botox injections work best on crow's-feet (wrinkles radiating from the outside corners of the eyes), worry lines (horizontal forehead lines), and frown lines (vertical lines, also called glabellar lines, that appear be?tween the eyebrows). These are wrinkles that are typically caused by chronic contractions of the muscles under or adja?cent to these areas of the face. Laughing, smiling, frowning, and squinting are some of the common facial expressions that can cause these lines. If you have lines and wrinkles on other parts of your face that concern you, you may need other types of cosmetic procedures to eliminate them. With that in mind, consider these questions:

Which wrinkles and lines bother you the most? Are these lines and wrinkles the type that are best eliminated using Botox?

The followings are the types of lines and wrinkles:

From the top of your face down, bothersome facial wrin?kles have the following names and locations. Notice that Botox is not the best choice for all types of wrinkles and lines.

Forehead lines: horizontal lines, often called worry lines. These lines form mainly because the underlying frontalis muscle, which stretches across the forehead, moves when you make facial expressions. When you lift your brow?sometimes referred to as the aha or surprised look?the muscle contracts, which causes the skin that is covering the muscle to pull, wrinkle, and then return to its original position when you relax the muscle. Now consider the countless number of times you've used these muscles. As you age, your skin be?gins to lose its elasticity, it suffers from sun damage, and the constant contracting and relaxing of the muscle results in forehead lines. These can be eliminated using Botox or filler injections such as collagen or fat.

Frown lines: vertical lines, also known as glabellar lines, that appear between the eyebrows. These linescan make you appear serious, angry, or stressed even when you're not. It is for the removal of these lines that the Food and Drug Administration gave approval for Botox in April 2002. These lines are best removed with Botox. If you've frowned a lot over the years and the lines are very deeply etched, you may also need wrinkle fillers (e.g., collagen, fat) to eliminate these lines. Your doctor will discuss your options with you.

Crow's-feet: lines that radiate from the outside corners of the eyes. They're also known as periorbital lines. If you have these lines, they're most likely the result of smiling and squinting. If you look in the mirror ands mile or squint, notice how your muscles contract and cause your eyelids to nearly cover your eyes and how the muscles contract at the corners of your eyes where the lines appear. Crow's-feet are best eliminated with Botox, plus adjunctive treatment such as collagen, chemical peels, or laser resurfacing.

Laugh lines: also known as smile lines or nasolabial lines, they are the two vertical lines that run from the out?side corners of the nose down to the top of the outside of the upper lip. Even though they are called laugh lines, gravity and aging are also factors in their development. They can best be eliminated using wrinkle fillers (e.g., collagen, fat, AlloDerm, Cymetra, Gore-Tex, or SoftForm).

Lipstick or smoker's lines: the tiny radiating lines that appear above the upper lip and below the lower one. It seems as though everyone has a different name for these annoying wrinkles, which are best removed using laser resurfacing, chemical peel, microdermabrasion, or wrinkle fillers?tissue augmentation (e.g., collagen in?jections, AlloDerm, fat)?in addition to Botox.

Marionette lines: the often deep lines that run down from the outside corners of the mouth toward the chin. These lines develop from a combination of factors, in?cluding gravity (the cheeks tend to sag from the force of gravity) and thinning of the supporting tissue that comes with age. These wrinkles are best eliminated using wrinkle fillers or laser resurfacing. Another option is a face-lift, a complex surgical procedure.

If you'll still be bothered by the remaining lines and wrinkles, are you willing to have other cosmetic procedures done to correct them? Naturally, you will need to discuss all your options and prices with your doctor, but you should be aware that other procedures may be needed for you to get the look you desire. You also should know that while Botox injections don't involve any recovery time, some other cosmetic procedures do.

Sleep Enuresis: Causes and Treatments

Sleep Enuresis, more commonly known as Bedwetting, refers to the lack of ability to maintain urinary control during sleep. This recurrent involuntary urination is also called Nocturnal Enuresis, which is characterized by at least two occurrences per month in 3 to 6 years old infants and at least one occurrence per month for older children.

Though it is considered normal for children below 7 years old to have enuretic episodes, 5% of 10 year old and 3% of 12 year old children, and as many as 1-3% of 18-year-old teenagers may continue to experience this disorder.

Primary and Secondary Enuresis:

Primary Enuresis is involuntary urination that occurs from infancy with at least two episodes a week, and comprised of 70-90% of all cases. Secondary Enuresis, on the other hand, refers to a relapse after experiencing an extended period of dryness. Adults are more likely to suffer from the secondary type.

Causes of Sleep Enuresis:

Sleep Enuresis can be caused by many factors including hormonal, dietary, or emotional factors.

One of the most common causes of Sleep Enuresis is the inability to develop the antidiuretic hormone cycle in some people. In this cycle, which is typically developed by individuals by the age of 2 to 6, the pituitary gland releases a hormone at night that promotes water retention in the kidneys, thereby reducing urine output till sunrise. Failure to develop this hormone cycle naturally leads to Sleep Enuresis.

An overactive bladder can also cause Sleep Enuresis in many children. By nature, muscle spasms occur in the bladder during urine retention and removal. When these spasms become too active or uncontrollable, the bladder is incapable of holding the normal amount of urine, which eventually results in accidental urination during sleep.

Another common hereditary factor is failure to develop an awareness that enables a person to awaken before urinating on bed. This awareness is normally developed by children during the natural process of learning how to control the bladder while awake.

Besides these common causes, medical disorders such as diabetes, urinary tract infection, sleep apnea or epilepsy and psychiatric disorders may also cause individuals to develop Sleep Enuresis.

Treatments:

Simple behavior modifications can be very effective treatments for children with enuretic episodes. For example, intake of liquids and dietary bladder irritants such as citrus products should be discouraged before bedtime. Taking note of when the enuresis actually occurs, and waking and taking the child to toilet before that hour, can also be very helpful.

Psychological treatments such as encouragement of self-reliance, participation in management, inculcation of self-respect and responsibility are also recommended by many experts. Physical punishments and coercion, on the other hand, are considered to be the most counterproductive measures and should be avoided at all costs.

Using devices such as bedwetting alarms and moisture alarms, combined with bladder muscle exercises, dietary changes, retention control training etc can also be helpful remedies in treating Sleep Enuresis.

For some of the more severe cases that cannot be treated by behavior modification, alarm devices and other treatment methods, using medications such as Desmopressin, a synthetic substitute for the missing antidiuretic hormone discussed earlier, is found to be very effective. Desmopressins such as DDAVP, Stimate, and Minrin can easily be administered nasally or intravenously.

Ginkgo: Nature's Way to Improve Intellectual Functioning

Humans are starting to live longer. Unfortunately, for some people, the aging process can result in impaired intellectual functions. However, this need not happen. Maintaining a good and nutritious eating plan, continuing physical activity, and engaging in challenging mental activities can all help one retain their mental clarity for years.

Why Humans Can Suffer from Impaired Mental Functioning

Why are humans potentially suffering from impaired mental functioning? There appears to be three primary reasons for this: The first reason is because the brain cells begin to decline. This can be caused by damage from free radicals. Also, there appears to be a gradual loss of some of the conductivity of the brain's neuron membranes.

Second, at the body begins to age, it does not absorb nutrients as effectively as it did in the younger years. The science team from USANA Health Sciences states: The brain requires adequate amounts of oxygen and nutrients to form properly. As we age, our gastorointestional system absorbs essential nutrients from food less efficiently, and the cirulatory system becomes less effective in delivering oxygen to the tissues. To function optimally in our later years, the central nervous system needs help to obtain the nutrients it needs.

Third, one's intelluctual functioning can be impacted by the earth's toxic environment. The environment subjects everyone to pollutants such as insecticides, solvents, and heavy metals that can cause damage to brain tissue. In addition, the body's response to stress restricts blood circulation in the brain, which, in turn decreases the supply of oxygen and nutrients. Research has shown that long term stress can cause damage to brain cells.

The Benefits of Ginkgo

The question is, how can Ginkgo help support the brain's cells? As it turns out, this herbal supplement has many benefits. The Chinese have used this herb for many, many years and Europeans have been using Ginkgo leaves for decades to enhance memory, attention span, and other neurological activity. Another good thing about Ginkgo is that extracts from it helps promote the antioxidant activity in the brain. This increases the brain's ability to fight free radical damage.

The most important role, once more according to USANA Health Sciences' science team, is Ginkgo's ability to enhance bloor circulation throughout the body and improve oxygenation to the brain. More oxygen to the brain means more efficient use of nutrients which, in turn, results in better mental performance, memory, and overall cognitive functioning.

The good news is that aging does not have to mean a person will suffer from decreased cogntive funtioning, decreased memory, or a overall poor functioning brain. Everyone has the potential to be mentally alert, be in optimal health, and live a long and full life.

The Natural Way

Don't you think there are enough chemicals in thr food we eat, the shampoo and skincare we use, our clothing, our carpets, furniture, air we breath and the world we live in?

I think enough is enough!

I'd rather feed my children organically grown tomatoes than hydroponically grown, chemical induced any day. They not only taste better but are better having much higher quantities of minerals and vitamins than the man made mass produced, stored on the shelves too long type you buy from the supermarket.

Why do we need to have everything NOW! rather than wait and enjoy the process it takes to achieve these quality products?

I do not understand. Have we really lost the wonder of life? Big questions i know but ones i wish more people would think about. What exactly are we teaching our children these days? What are we leaving them with a planet devoid of vegetation; a heart devoid of pleasure?

I think if we not only teach our kids but also ourselves to enjoy the nature we are provided with but to actually relish it, to love it, thrive with it and embrace the processes and journey as such that it requires to grow a truly natural tomatoe for instance or to create from scratch a beautiful hand lotion or healthy cleaning product we will all be healthier for it and happy also.

Something as simple as making a face mask from home grown produce or whipping up a beautiful scented room spray can be so rewarding and so unique in todays market place. We can spoil loved ones with the pleasure of nature, save our resources and indulge in a much higher quality product. Reduse the packaging or reuse and we are benefitting thousands of people by our actions and truly living in the here and now.

Surely you have heard about the effects of growth hormones in chicken and the side effects created by particular medications but have you ever stopped to think just how dangerous the chemicals are in for instance your shampoo? SLS or Sodium Leureth Sulfate among other chemicals can cause serious damage to sensitives skin so used over the long term what else is it doing? What does it do to normal skin? Itchy dry scalp, dandruff, irritation, hair loss etc these are just some of the known symtoms of irritation caused by these chemicals yet rather than find a healthier alternative we buy them for convenience.

Happiness comes from living a genuine life so why not start by genuinely caring about what we put into and onto our bodies. Why not try some home made recipes for cleaning products as well as beauty and skincare needs. There are many sites with recipes and ideas along with places for purchasing goods.

Help save the planet by saving yourself first.

Always Shock Your Muscles For Maximum Growth

Always try to trick your muscles into growth. You never want to do the same exercises, reps and sets for each and every workout. You always want to shock your muscles into growing and adapting to new stimuli, so make sure to always switch up your training routines, number of sets and reps for each training session. Also, make sure to train at a high level if intensity and really push each set to positive failure (barely getting the last rep up).

You should always focus on increasing the weight lifted. If your muscles get used to lifting a specific amount of weight, then they will never want to get stronger or grow. Always try to trick your muscles with different reps/sets and keep your intensity levels up high enough so they always are forced to make changes and grow!

To gain muscle mass use a rep range of 8-12, starting out. Then, once your comfortable switch it up to lower reps like 6-8 range. There is also an total volume intensity aspect which takes the overall volume of weight lifted into muscle mass gains. Such as:

10 reps with 225 lbs = 2,250 total training volume

vs.

6 reps with 275 = 1,650 total training volume

The key is to always train to positive failure on every set (after warmup). This way, you will always be taxing your muscles and applying highest level of intensity possible.

Another great way to really shock your muscles is to train with different routines. We have included a huge database of workout routines for you to choose from. Whether you're a beginner, intermediate or advanced individual, we have the workout routines that's just right for you! Choose from hundreds of different routines here:

What Is Beef Jerky Good For?

When most men think of Beef Jerky, they think of cowboys or truck drivers. A lot of western movies used to show cowboys eating beef jerky out on the trail.

When women think of Beef Jerky, they ...well, they usually don't think of it at all, which is sad.

Here's some things to consider about beef jerky:

- It's healthy
- It's very nutritious
- It's high in protean
- It's low in fat
- It's low in carbohydrates

OK, these are just facts. What do they mean to me as a housewife and mother or father?

You want your children to eat right and eat what's good for them. You certainly would like to think that you're also eating right. But, have you ever thought about what your children eat during the day for snacks?

Do you know what they eat in school or what's in the vending machines at their schools?

Hostess cupcakes, ding-dongs, Twinkies, cookies, candy, gum, etc. Do you have any idea how bad these are for growing children? There's a growing national concern about the 'junk' food that your children eat in schools across the country.

Want to do something about it?

Substitute beef jerky snacks in their book bags, lunch boxes, after school, watching TV, etc. Beef Jerky is light, doesn't need refrigeration and doesn't spoil easily. It has more protean than fish or peanut butter. It has less fat than bacon, hamburgers or cheeseburgers. Beef jerky is better for your children than any other 'junk food' that they're eating now. Fruit and beef jerky are the two best 'snack' foods that you or your children can eat.

Beef Jerky is an overlooked healthy snack for all ages and for all times.

Pack some jerky when your family goes fishing, hiking, skiing, camping, boating, etc. It doesn't take up much room yet supplies a lot of energy per pound. This is why almost all mountain climbers pack beef jerky in their back packs.

And, let's not forget what else beef jerky is good for.

Mothers love to give it to their teething babies. Unlike those store bought 'things' that look and taste like dog biscuits, beef jerky actually has some nutritional value for your young one.

And speaking of dog biscuits, dogs will love you for feeding them beef jerky. It's natural and is excellent for their coats.

Beef jerky can also be used for ingredients in cooking other meals too.

So, next time you think of hiking, camping, fishing, watching TV, skiing, boating, etc. think of beef jerky. No other snack matches the nutritional benefits that you receive from eating it.

Beef Jerky is not just for cowboys or truck drivers anymore. People have discovered that it's also for mothers, mothers-to-be, fathers, children, babies, and dogs. It's the undiscovered health food for the 21st century informed family.

Most store bought beef jerky is considered pretty bad. If you really want to taste some great tasting beef jerky, look for small companies that still make it in small batches from family recipes. A search on the Internet will yield many sites that offer great tasting beef jerky. Some even specialize in odd jerky such as alligator, venison, elk, etc. Others specialize in top end, gourmet beef jerkies such as JerkyMadeToOrder.com

You should try several different kinds before deciding on a favorite. Once hooked, you'll wonder where beef jerky has been all your life.

For Great Tooth Whitening Results Use A Quality Delivery System

You can get whiter teeth faster by using high quality products.and they don?t cost an arm and a leg! Today?s products all can give you a bright and white smile. Tooth whitening products are available from low cost white strips to expensive dental professional services and everything in between.

The key to whiter teeth thougyh is the delivery system. Whitening products are usually a gel or paint like product placed on your teeth. The tooth bleaching gel or teeth whitening gel is held in place by a delivery system. The delivery system is how the teeth whitening product is held in place next to your teeth. Usually this is a tray or molded plastic impression of your teeth. The key to getting good results is that the gel or pain product with the tooth whitening agent must stay in contact with your teeth surface. Simply putting it on and having it wash away will not work. Some of the less effective delivery methods are the strip type.

Crest white strips are very popular. These are simply a tooth bleaching tape that?s placed on the front teeth only. Crest whitestrips use a delivery system that?s a lot like a piece of flexible tape. The tape is placed on the front teeth and contains tooth bleaching gel. It?s easy and simple to use. Remember that although the whitening strips may only cover the front teeth, they?re usually more comfortable.

The more complete and better delivery method is a tray similar to those teeth protectors used by athletes. In the cheaper teeth whitening kits, the trays provided are heated in hot water then placed in the mouth to form an adequate, if not perfect fit. The better the fit, the better the teeth whitener gel will stay in contact with your teeth.

What I consider to be the best long term value however is a custom tray made just for your teeth. Higher quality teeth whitening kits provide a material to take an impression of your teeth. Because the impression fits exactly to your teeth, it?s more comfortable and allows the whitening product to cover all the teeth surfaces. The one negative to using a custom tray is the short delay while the impression is sent to the dental lab to make the custom tray to fit your mouth. This just takes an extra couple of days but the results are very much worth it to say nothing of the much more comfortable tray.

The good news is that most custom tray teeth whitening kits provide everything needed for the best, most economical teeth whitening results. Custom trays last a long time and give great results at an affordable price.

Bifocal Contact Lenses What Are They

For year?s people who had both nearsightedness and farsightedness had to suffer with eyeglasses that had thick lenses with a line across them. Not only were the glasses heavy but the frames for glasses in general were to say the least, unattractive. The other problem with the bifocal lenses was adjusting to them. You either have to look up or look down especially going downstairs. People often experience dizziness while adapting to the bifocal lenses.

For years people who needed bifocal lenses had only one choice, eyeglasses. Even when contact lenses came on the market, bifocals still could only be had in eyeglasses. That was then and this is now. Now contact lenses offer as many choices if not more choices than for those who wear eyeglasses. Now to the joy of many, there are bifocal contact lenses available. Bifocal contact lenses are available in soft, rigid, gas permeable materials.

Who needs to use bifocal lenses? People who have trouble focusing on objects that are near. They suffer with something called Presbyopia. This doesn?t usually develop after age 40.

There are various types of lenses and they are described below.

    * Alternating design- these are similar to bifocal glasses, half the lens has distance powers and the other half has powers for near objects.

    * Simultaneous Design-these lenses try to blend the powers of both distant and near sight prescriptions, they fill in the pupil area. Your eyes adapt and learn to interpret the circle power choice depending on how close or far you are looking.

    * Concentric Design-These are the radial of contact lenses. The lens works on near vision while outer part works on distant vision correction or vice versa.

    * Translating Design- these are also very similar to bifocal eyeglasses, the distance correction is above the near correction. A line separates the lenses. The lens is flat on the bottom to keep it from moving around in your eye when you blink.

    * Asferic Design-Distant and near vision are located at the center of the lens. Near correction is at the center while distance correction surrounds it. They can be reversed in some situations. The doctor will help you decide that.

    * Mono-vision Design-You wear one power lens in one eye and the other in the other eye. Distance vision is usually worn in the dominant eye. Again your doctor will be able to determine this with an examination.

There are also simultaneous vision contact lenses. These lenses allow the eyes to focus on both near and far objects at the same time. Near and distant correction is in concentric rings. Since the distant and near parts of the lens are in sight all the time light from both distant and near objects can be focused on at the same time.

There is a problem with simultaneous vision lenses. While the eye is seeing through the lens some light from distant objects will go through the near vision, and the light from near objects will go through the distant part of the lens. The eye takes both in focus and out of focus at the same time. It is up to the brain to figure out which is the desired image.

Contact lenses whether bifocal or not can only be obtained with a prescription. Through a comprehensive examination your eye doctor will determine whether you are a candidate for bifocal contact lenses and what specific type might be right for you. As with any contact lens there is an adjustment period and it might take more than one try before you get lenses that are the right fit and comfortable for you.

The reality though is that bifocal contact lenses may not be for you, at least in the contact lenses that are now available. Don?t give up. If you really want contact lenses and you need bifocals, do your research and keep up to date on the types of lenses available for you.

If you want to try contact lenses some companies have free trial periods of up to a week for you to try the lenses and see how you like them. There are resources available online, through your eye care physician, and in some cases right from the manufacturer. There are discount contact lens sites and some manufacturers offer coupons to you for trying them out. Your budget will undoubtedly play a part in your decision about bifocal contact lenses.

Ask friends or family members who have contact lenses what their experience has been like for them. Of course, not everyone has the same experience but in general, the information could help you and your physician make a determination.

Bifocal contact lenses are available for people with astigmatism. Toric contact lenses in particular come in both colors and disposable types. Consult with your eye care professional, as some professionals are not comfortable with fitting Toric lenses.

    Exploring Mindfulness and Meditation

In our every day lives, we are all guilty of neglecting our minds, allowing our brains to be lulled into a lazy, neglected, and unaware state. It is as if we are allowing ourselves to be sculpted by bland and repetitive consumerism, our individuality being chiselled away by a tedium we cannot even be bothered to challenge with any will.

Life need not be like that. We are each blessed with a powerful mind; but normally people have forgotten or, most likely, never even knew how, to use it. It is such a waste of our own greatest resource.

One way to start to extricate ourselves from the mindless quicksand is to gently exercise our minds, using mindfulness and meditation as a way of bringing ourselves more emphatically into the real world, and start the process of exercising control over our minds and our lives.

Creating a mindfulness meditation is a gentle but powerful exercise. But how do you go about it?

    A Simple Mindfulness Meditation Exercise

As with any meditation session, you need to get into a relaxed and comfortable position, eyes closed, and then commence with deep nasal breathing, focusing your thoughts on the breathing to ease yourself into a meditative state.

Once you feel that you are calmed by your breathing and that your breath is under your rhythmic control, then you can move on to focusing on your own body, a part at a time. I was first taught this at yoga class, where we were taught to concentrate first of all on the left foot, focusing on it from a position above ourselves. Then move up the body slowly, left ankle, knee, thigh and so on. When reaching your head, you then do the same in reverse on the other side of the body: right shoulder, right elbow, right hand and so on.

Once you have completed your tour of your own body, as if you were someone else examining it, then it is time to open your eyes and increase your mindfulness of your surroundings.

To do this, focus on any object in the room; it does not have to be anything special: a cup on the coffee table, a vase, a plastic flower, anything. Try to maintain that focus for half a minute, and then move on to any other object. You can repeat this several times, always maintaining a focus on your own body and your own breathing, creating a triple harmony with each object on which you focus.

By using this simple mindfulness meditation you are increasing awareness both of yourself and your surroundings, in a very gentle and easy way. It can serve as a prelude to some mental task, as well as being part of an ongoing mindfulness campaign to strengthen and expand the use of your own mind.

For example, most days I write, but sometimes I just do not seem able to concentrate on what I am supposed to be writing about. I find this type of exercise, even just for 10 minutes, will snap me out of that inexplicable malaise, and I can get right on and write what I should have written earlier.

This meditation and mindfulness article was written by Roy Thomsitt, owner and part author of the Routes To Self Improvement website, where you can also read about the importance of breathing techniques while meditating.

Top 5 Crohn's Disease Treatment Options

Treatment options for Crohn?s disease depends largely on the severity of the condition and the parts of the digestive tract that are affected by the disease. The danger of complications, as well as responses to previous treatments is considered before deciding on any treatment option.

The treatments for Crohn?s disease don?t necessarily involve treating the Crohn?s itself, but rather the symptoms that go with the disease such as abdominal pain, diarrhea and rectal bleeding. There are no cures, as yet for Crohn?s disease.

    Treatment Options

    1. Surgery

A great number of Crohn?s patients will undergo surgery at some point. Surgery is typically only recommended when there are serious and severe complications, but it may also be chosen for elective reasons. Some of the conditions that require surgery are excessive bleeding, perforation of the bowel, intestinal obstruction, formation of an abscess or toxic megacolon.

Some of the reasons you might consider surgery is if your current medical treatments aren?t as effective as they once were, or they are unable to control the pain, weight loss fever or extreme fatigue that are symptoms of your condition. Another reason elective surgery might be an option is if the side effects of your Crohn?s treatment have become too much for you to bear.

Patients with Crohn?s disease should never be afraid of surgery since it helps to alleviate the complications of the disease, and conserve bowel. Not only that, an entire health care team including a surgeon, anesthesiologist and primary physician will handle the surgery so you can be assured of a successful, well tolerated procedure.

    2. Drug Therapy

A present there is no drug that will cure your Crohn?s disease; however there are medicines that are used for treating the symptoms that go with Crohn?s. Drug therapies vary from one patient to another and are usually custom-designed to suit every patient.

The Aminosalicylates are ideal for patients with mild to moderate disease. This drug is used to achieve or maintain remission. While there is no concrete proof that these medications are effective in treating Crohn?s, they are prescribed frequently since most patients can tolerate the drug quite well, and experience few side effects.

For patients that do not respond well to these medications, corticosteroids are a great alternative since these drugs control inflammation and induce remission. Although, these drugs are effective, they can cause some significant side effects such as increased receptiveness to infection, mood swings, anxiety, depression, elevated blood pressure, glaucoma, cataracts and osteoporosis. As a result, doctors gradually reduce the dose you are taking once remission is achieved.

Antibiotics are used to treat many ailments not just Crohn?s disease. They are particularly helpful in patients with fistulas, and can be combined with other medications. These drugs are used to delay the recurrence of Crohn?s disease.

Immuno-suppressives are drugs that suppress the immune system. They are effective but can cause some side effects such as nausea, vomiting, liver problems or inflammation of the pancreas. These drugs work by suppressing the bone marrow and as a result the immune response. Because of their side effects, frequent monitoring is required while you are taking this medication, including blood testing and regular visits to your doctor.

Biologic Therapy is the latest addition to treatments for Crohn?s disease, and is the first drug to ever be approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for treating Crohn?s. What makes this drug so effective is the fact that it is an antibody that blocks that tumor necrosis factor.

    3. Diet and Nutrition

Since Crohn?s disease is a disease of the digestive tract, it is critical for every Crohn?s patient to pay special attention to the foods they eat. Proper selection of food is important in order to reduce symptoms and promote healing.

    4. Nutrition supplementation

Nutritional supplements are given especially to children with Crohn?s whose growth has been slowed down by the disease. A special high calorie liquid formula is sometimes used for this purpose. There may also be patients who require feeding through the veins. This procedure provides patients with extra nutrition while giving their intestines the rest they needs

    5. Investigational treatments

Continuous research geared toward the discovery of effective treatments for Crohn?s disease offers patients great hope that a cure will someday be found for their disease. Investigational treatments include anti-TNF, Interluekin 10, Antibiotics, Budesonide, Methotrexate and cyclosporine, Natalizumab and zinc.

If you suspect you have Crohn?s disease, you should first consult your primary care physician before taking other steps. Careful diagnosis and monitoring is the key to living comfortably with Crohn?s.

    Anxiety: Don't Take It Lightly

Anxiety Disorder can be mild or it can be crippling. A mild version would be the person who is nervous about the monsters in the dark basement. A crippling version would be the person who dreads the next panic attack, making life uncertain at best. What is a good anxiety treatment for you?

    Panic attacks have these hallmarks:
    * heart palpitations
    * perspiration
    * hyperventilating
    * fear
    * avoiding situations that might trigger a panic attack.

People who suffer from panic attacks never want to have another one. But often they are looking for circumstances that exist when they have panic attacks. These folks come to associate certain thoughts and fears with a panic attack. And in fact, their fear of a panic attack can cause a panic attack.

There's good news, though. Antidepressants can deliver you from fear of monsters in the basement. For panic attacks, extensive behavioral therapy helps you conquer the situation. Conquering the fear of a panic attack can be a key. And for those who want a quick remedy, there are accupressure-type treatments that many people say have cured them.

The first order of business for an anxiety sufferer is to get a thorough check-up by a physician. Rule out any physical causes, such as thyroid imbalances and hypoglycemia. Your physician may want to put you on an antidepressant.

Traditional methods for combating anxiety attacks involve cognitive behavioral therapy. A cognitive behavioral therapist can help you identify your panic attack thought triggers and work on mastering them. You can also learn to relax in order to moderate your body's response to the triggers.

Non-traditional methods involve acupressure. It's all a bit mysterious, but people say it works!

Here's a tip: hyperventilating can make you dizzy from too much oxygen. If you carry a bag with you and breathe in and out using the bag for 30 seconds or so at the beginning of an attack, you won't get as much oxygen because of the carbon dioxide exhalation in the bag. So carry a bag and try it out!

    Breast Enhancement Products

There is a wide assortment of products, both herbal as well as synthetic, available for breast enhancement. They differ not only in their ingredients, but also in their forms. One can choose from pills, capsules, creams, and even aromatic candles and hypnotic audiotapes.

These products contain saw palmetto extract, fennel seed, fenugreek, dong quai, blessed thistle, dandelion, watercress, black cohosh, and wild yam among other ingredients. They function by altering the hormonal balance within the body, stimulating a greater production of estrogen, the female secondary sex hormone.

Surgery involves adding saline breast implants to a woman?s body. An alternative is silicone gels. These implants are limited in their reach because many women are not willing to go under the surgeon?s knife, which explains the popularity of various products available over the counter. These products are easy to use and are more discreet.

Out of all the products for breast enhancement available, the pills are the most popular due to their ease in storage and ingestion. Many unconventional products are also available, including a vacuum pump has been designed that can be fitted onto the breast like a tight-fitting brassiere. The suction provided by the pump allows the fatty layers to move to their rightful places in the tissues giving the breast a toned look.

Aromatic candles and audiotapes are other options for breast enhancement. The latter mainly work psychologically, coaxing the woman to be determined into using products to enhance her bust. There are silicone filled brassieres available that can temporarily cause the illusion of a huger bust.

Breast enhancement products are widely publicized on the Internet and there are many people who swear by their success, but there is no medical evidence supporting their success. In fact, people who use these products complain of various symptoms ranging from weight gain to amnesia.

Some of the companies manufacturing these products have had to face legal suits at some time or another; and the companies themselves provide refunds when their products do not work in a specified amount of time.

Breast Enhancement provides detailed information about breast enhancement, breast enhancement creams, breast enhancement pills, and more. Breast Enhancement is affiliated with Breast Enlargement Cream.
